Meth deceives and demoralizes its users so completely that addicts will waste years of precious life
pursuing the same destructive desires Meth creates. Their lives become separated from everyone else’s
even though they may have many friends. In time the addict no longer chooses what he or she will do, but
Meth directs what needs to be done as the addicts unknowingly die emotionally and spiritually. Even
addicts will tell you Meth is the devil’s drug, because addicts know the effects of continued intoxication. Yet
they cannot stop even when the drug no longer gives the desired effect and the experience becomes quite
painful. Meth addiction is a total deception.
Meth has become a problem that affects everyone. All taxpayers pay to support the Meth addict whether it
be though extra enforcement, confinement, or treatment programs, not to mention the deterioration of
society. Businesses are overwhelmed with thefts and the extra worry of security. People are tired of Meth
addicts’ spending money they didn’t earn, even for treatment. Society wants to almost hate the addicts for
their stupid decisions. We hear it on the news and live with it next door. People are reaching a point of no
tolerance for it. They want a solution to the Meth problem that works and they want it now. It’s easy to forget
that addicts are our own sons and daughters or our best friends at school.
As time goes on, expenditures for law enforcement and treatment continue to go up. Jails have turned into
second-class hotels and treatment into total irresponsibility. The mental health field is being bombarded
with people suffering the after-effects of Meth. Putting Meth addicts in confinement only prolongs the
addiction process. Statistics show that 78% of addicts, upon release, will return to confinement within two
years on similar charges. The rate for a hard-core I.V. Meth addict to remain drug-free over two years is
less than 5%. I believe the odds for an addict to become free from Meth for life will be changed.
This is the story of a recovering Meth addict, from start to finish, and how I fought and won the battle to save
my life and successfully overcome Meth addiction. The Heart of Meth Addiction is solely based on my
experience using Meth and surviving the Meth world. I share the needs and desires Meth created in me,
and the solutions, from my view, to overcoming Meth addiction. I encourage the addict to learn what level of
addiction they are at and then to decide if they want to continue in that lifestyle, knowing where it leads. You
will never quit using Meth until you make the decision to quit. I also share some of my close and personal
experiences using Meth to give the reader a new perspective outside general knowledge of the drug and
to let addicts know that they are not alone in this addiction. I write under the assumption that the reader
already knows what Meth is and what its associated effects on the body and mind are.
