FORCED ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS ABUSE
|
"To compel a man to furnish funds for the propagation of ideas he disbelieves and abhors is
sinful and tyrannical" Thomas Jefferson
Read THIS before joining Alcoholics Anonymous.
A recovered alcoholic with over 20 years sobriety and dedicated participation in A.A, Dick B. is an active, recovered
member of the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous. He is a retired attorney, Bible student and has sponsored more
than 80 men in their recovery.
Dick B. States the facts that:
Alcoholics Anonymous Revealed
1- A definite 75% fail to maintain sobriety.
2- No more than 1%- 5% maintain permanent sobriety.
3- Those who aligned themselves with Alcoholics Anonymous have a lower success rate than those who got sober
without Alcoholics Anonymous.
Does A.A. Work?
An insult to all those who recovered on their own-without A.A.
Rarely have we seen a person fail who has thoroughly followed our path. Those who do not recover are people
who cannot or will not completely give themselves to this simple program, usually men and women who are
constitutionally incapable of being honest with themselves. There are such unfortunates. They are not at fault;
they seem to have been born that way. They are naturally incapable of grasping and developing a manner of
living which demands rigorous honesty. Their chances are less than average. (AA's Bible, Chapter 5.)
The truth is those in A.A. RARELY succeed in sobriety.
Alcoholics Anonymous: Cult or Cure? Harper's Magazine, February 1963 -by Arthur H. Cain
A useful idea that has turned into a religious movement—and a hindrance to research, psychiatry, and to many
alcoholics who need a different kind of help.
From The Journal of the American Medical Association, Oct.14, 1939:
The seriousness of the psychiatric and social problem represented by addiction to alcohol is generally
underestimated by those not intimately familiar with the tragedies in the families of victims or the resistance addicts
offer to any effective treatment.
Many psychiatrists regard addiction to alcohol as having a more pessimistic prognosis than schizophrenia. For many
years the public was beguiled into believing that short courses of enforced abstinence and catharsis in "institutes"
and "rest homes" would do the trick, but now that the failure of such temporising has become common knowledge,
a considerable number of other forms of quack treatment have spring up.
The book under review is a curious combination of organising propaganda and religious exhortation. It is in no
sense a scientific book, although it is introduced by a letter from a physician who claims to know some of the
anonymous contributors who have been "cured" of addiction to alcohol and have joined together in an organisation
which would save other addicts by a kind of religious conversion. The book contains instructions as to how to
intrigue the alcoholic addict into acceptance of divine guidance in place of alcohol in terms strongly reminiscent of
Dale Carnegie and the adherents of the Buchman ("Oxford") movement.
The one valid thing in the book is the recognition of the seriousness of addiction to alcohol. Other than this, the
book has no scientific merit or interest.

Therapeutic groups versus 12-step groups: An analysis of the AA prototype
12 step groups, especially in the form of Alcoholic Anonymous groups, have a rich history as evangelical, Christian-
based groups, which operate under the guise of “treatment” for persons with substance abuse problems. However,
research suggests that AA operates in a cult-like fashion, and does not consider the individual differences of the
person entering the AA program.
2-Alcoholism is caused by a gene or a disease. False!
There is no evidence proving addiction is caused by a disease.
There is far to little evidence to assume a gene is the cause of alcoholism.
7-A.A. is a spiritual not a religious organization. False!
Court cases since 1996 have ruled that AA is a religion and their religious views can't be forced on people by the
state.
9-A.A. Does not fit in the category as being a cult. False!
Prayer and meditation, group peer pressure, special rules, god-control, etc. All are classified as being a cult.
1-A.A. Has a high success rate. False!
A.A. has a high failure rate. All controlled studies conducted on A.A. Shows it is inferior to all other forms of
treatment. A.A.'s own membership surveys presents a 95% failure rate. (Spontaneous remission rate for alcoholism
is 4-18% yearly)
5-Alcoholics can't drink responsibly after solving their alcohol problem. False!
Study after study proves alcoholics can and the majority do return to drinking responsible again.
8-A.A. was founded by a Christian group (Oxford Group). False!
The great light Bill Wilson experienced was not from god and the Oxford Group was not a Christian based group, but
a 'God-control' occultic organization. Jesus Christ is never mentioned in A.A. literature and/or the big book.
10-Group members are always supportive and respectful to those in need of help. False!
The abuse of newcomers and women has caused great concern, even charges being filed against group leaders.
12-Alcohol is the source of all our alcohol problems. False!
Bill Wilson considered everything else (including an 'illness'), but drinking alcohol to be the cause of alcoholism:
"Our liquor was but a symptom." (The Big Book, William G. Wilson, page 64.) "After all, our problems were of our
own making. Bottles were only a symbol." (The Big Book, William G. Wilson, page 103.)
6-People can't recover without A.A. False!
The opposite is true. People can't recover in A.A. Those who attend A.A. are told they have a life-long disease &
can't.
3-Alcoholics (people who drink excessively) are victims of a spiritual disease. False!
Using the holy bible to determine what a spiritual disease is, it never calls excessive drink a disease but a 'work of
the flesh' or a behavioral sin.
11-The only requirement for A.A. membership is a desire to quit drinking. False!
Less than 20% of A.A. members choose to attend A.A.-80% are court ordered and/or a requirement in
treatment/aftercare.
False beliefs being forced on people
THE GRAY AREA OF DRUG ADDICTION
All twelve-step support groups teach the disease model of addiction, which was popularized by AA and adopted by
professional organizations and government agencies. The disease model of addiction is intellectually sloppy and
unscientific. This model does much more harm than good because it undermines peoples' feelings of self control.
Alcoholics Anonymous 12-Step Program
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each
other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism.
12-Step Groups
As with Alcoholics Anonymous, all 12-step groups claim a disease is the cause for their behavioral problems.
12-step members are known for shifting personal responsibility to other group members and blaming everything on
diseases. After reading through the following groups you will see how common sense has been replaced with a
'12-step cure'. Please note: none of these groups have any scientific foundation or proven effectiveness in solving
behavior problems. Here are just a few of the 1000's of 12-step groups: Alcoholics Anonymous, Abusive Parents
Anonymous, ACOA Adult Children Of Alcoholics, Al-Anon, Alateen, Alcoholics Victorious, ARTS Anonymous
(Artists Recovering through the Twelve Steps), Augustine Fellowship, CA Cocaine/Crack Anonymous, Calix (a
Catholic 12-step based recovery organization), Clutterers Anonymous,Criminal and Gangs Anonymous, CODA
Codependents Anonymous, Codependents of Sex Addicts, Compulsive Eaters Anonymous, Compulsive Shopping
Anonymous, Debtors Anonymous, Depression Anonymous, Divorce Recovery, Dual Diagnosis Anonymous,
Drug-Anon Focus, Dual Disorders Anonymous, DRA Dual Recovery Anonymous, EA Emotions Anonymous,
Emotional Health Anonymous, Ethics Anonymous, FA Families Anonymous, Food Addicts in Recovery Anonymous,
GA Gamblers Anonymous, Gangs Anonymous, Hate Anonymous, Incest Survivors Anonymous, Love Anonymous,
Masturbation Anonymous, NA Narcotics Anonymous, Naranon, Nick-a-teen Anonymous, Nicotine Anonymous,
Obsessive-Compulsive Anonymous, Overcomers Outreach Anonymous, OE Overeaters Anonymous, Parents
Anonymous, Pill Addicts Anonymous, Pills Anonymous, Prostitutes Anonymous, RSA Rape Survivors Anonymous,
SA Sexaholics Anonymous, S/A Schizophrenics Anonymous, SAA Sex Addicts Anonymous, Self Mutilators
Anonymous, Sex Slaves Anonymous, Shoplifters Anonymous, SLAA Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous, Smoking
Anonymous, Suicide Anonymous, Survivors of Incest Anonymous, Tough Love Anonymous, and Workaholics
Anonymous. The 12-steps have been adapted to fit almost any behavior problem and calling almost all normal
problematic behavior diseases-total disregarding personal responsibility.

Court Ordered A.A. illegal
(If the court doesn't offer an alternative)
High Court Cases
(Rulings against forced A.A. abuse)
If you have been court ordered to attend A.A. either by a drug court or as a stipulation for probation and was not
offered an alternative to A.A. you may have the right to sue for damages. There have been a number of court cases
that have ruled to protect the 1st amendment, and in those states they now offer alternatives. Stand up for your
rights and fight back against court ordered AA abuse.
